Eyebrows are a huge part of any woman’s facial features. They come in all shapes and sizes, and correcting them can be a nightmare. The beauty industry has come up with different solutions for making eyebrows look good: from pencils to gel, powder to stencils. And the results are usually great, but then you must do the same tomorrow, and the day after, and so on.

Well, not anymore! Microblading is the hottest new trend in the beauty industry. It’s a longer lasting way to keep your brows exactly as you would like them. In simple terms, it’s a cosmetic tattoo, but not a scary tattoo.

Microblading, also known as eyebrow embroidery and 3D lashes, is a form of semi-permanent makeup that uses manual hair-like strokes to partially or fully camouflage missing eyebrow hair. Ideal for anyone wanting to enhance the look of their eyebrows.

How eyebrow Microblading works at LuLu Beauty Lounge in Ann Arbor:

In this procedure, a pigment is inserted under your skin in an artistic and meticulous style. Unlike regular tattooing, the pigment is applied manually and carefully implanted by a hand-held micro blade device.

How long will it last?

Eyebrow Microblading is semi-permanent, meaning it will fade out with time. It will last between 1 to 3 years, depending on how you take care of your brows and how your skin retains the pigment.

What to expect...

Because you’re already thinking of getting your brows microbladed, here are a few guidelines on what to expect and what you can do to prepare.

Avoid certain products: If you drink a little bit more alcohol than you’d care to admit, or use retinol or aspirin, you’ll need to stop at least a week before the procedure. These products act as blood thinners, meaning you’ll bleed a little more than usual. But if you eliminate these products, there should be minimum blood loss; you most likely won’t even feel a thing. You can read more about pre-care instructions here.

Don’t rush it: Microblading is a small procedure, but a procedure nonetheless. Make sure you’re not in a hurry when you come in for your appointment. A couple of hours should do just fine, and given you’ll have the beautiful brows for up to three years, it’s worth the wait.
